Completion Of MT Princess Empress Oil Extraction
June 16, 2023 – Nearly four months after the tanker Princess Empress sank and triggered an oil spill in Oriental Mindoro, MTSC is proud to announce that the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) confirmed that all eight cargo tanks “were now empty” and the oil extraction operations were complete. The statement was made by Rear Adm. Armando Balilo from the PCG after viewing the ROV ( Remotely Operated Vehicle) live survey video.
Following the completion of the oil extraction operations, MTSC confirmed that two of their tugboats would continue to monitor and conduct OSR ( Oil Spill Response) operations.
