Malayan
Towage and Salvage Corporation (MTSC) and the Philippine Institute of Petroleum
(PIP) members completed the fourth and final Waterborne Industry Spill
Equipment oil spill response exercise for 2019 in Sasa, Davao (Davao
City). Attended by WISE stake holders (Petron, Chevron, Shell, Total,
PTT, and Isla Petroleum) and local government regulatory bodies, including
Philippine Coast Guard, the exercise comprised of a table-top session with
group exercises in spill management and a drill in which MTSC deployed it oil
spill response equipment.
MTSC
is the sole contractor for WISE Philippines and has oil spill response hubs in
Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao so it can respond to a Tier 2 spill (1000cubic
meters) by any of the PIP members. MTSC holds four practical spill drills each
year in each Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao with the PIP members and MTSC personnel
and equipment.
